Volunteer Spotlight: Kai Garcia

Kai Garcia – Stewardship Volunteer
May 2022

Volunteers Kai Garcia (L) and Wynton Love (R) head out to remove old wire fencing at Johnson Preserve in March 2022

Kai is a new volunteer for Legacy, but he has certainly been busy in his short time with us! He became interested in volunteering with Legacy after attending an invasive species removal workday at the Lloyd and Mabel Johnson Preserve during his Eastern Michigan University ecology lab this past February.

In addition to the many volunteer hours at a variety of organizations through his service chair position for the EMU service group Alpha Phi Omega, Kai helped Legacy on two projects this spring. He used his artistic talent to lead members of his student group in making signs from recycled materials for our Earth Day event and flexed his muscles removing old wire fencing from the Johnson Preserve.

We are so lucky he has found time for us. Thank you, Kai!
