Each year, the AmeriCorps members serving with Legacy Land Conservancy are tasked with carrying out a project of their choice at Legacy’s preserves. These projects can range from studying plants to inventorying wildlife to surveying preserve visitors about their experiences.

Pursuing my passion during AmeriCorps service
Since I was a young kid I have been fascinated by “herps” (AKA amphibians and reptiles), especially frogs. Over the years I have taken every opportunity to engage with these creatures through both exploration and research. Upon arriving at Legacy for my first AmeriCorps term in 2022, Preserve Stewardship Manager Kyler Moran encouraged me to find ways to pursue my personal interests (like herps!) in conjunction with my regular stewardship technician responsibilities.
Telling the Sharon Hills Preserve Story
From the very beginning of my service, Sharon Hills has been my favorite preserve. Even when I first started in January and there was no green life to be seen, I knew. I had felt the land reaching for me and pulling me in like it wanted attention.
