Legacy Land Conservancy is pleased to announce a grant award of $1,900 from the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation. This generous gift will be used to provide training, supplies and equipment for the organization’s Preserve Stewardship Program. Legacy Land Conservancy engages large numbers of volunteers each year to help complete stewardship activities including required monitoring, invasive plant removal, trail maintenance, and events on the conservation easements and public preserves for which they are responsible.
“This award is a great boost to our stewardship staff and volunteers,” said Executive Director Diana Kern. “Once a parcel is protected forever, rolling up our sleeves, grabbing some tools, and improving and preserving the site is the nuts and bolts of what we do. This grant will help to ensure that our volunteers and staff are properly equipped for the job.”
Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation Grants are made possible by the proceeds received from their weekly Friday and Saturday Kiwanis Thrift Sale. Donations and patronage at the store by the public at-large allows Kiwanis to support efforts for the greater good throughout the region.
