Bipartisan Bill Supports Permanent Tax Incentives for Conservation

IMG_3911Great news! Recently, Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-PA) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) introduced a bipartisan bill in the U.S. House that would make permanent the enhanced tax incentives for conservation easements. These enhanced incentives have made donations of land easements an affordable option for landowners of more modest means and have helped land trusts and others increase the rate of conservation to over one million acres a year. If Congress doesn’t act these critical tax incentives will expire at the end of 2013. Big Legacy thanks to Michigan Representatives Dingell and Peters for championing conservation by co-sponsoring the bill.
