Ami Fofana, Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program Intern

Ami Fofana

Ami, our intern from the University of Michigan’s Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program, is spending the summer updating management plans for each of our nature preserves. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ami attends the University of Toledo in Ohio as an environmental science major. While at her home institution, Ami works as an undergraduate lab technician in a soil ecology and ecosystems laboratory. In her free time, she volunteers at the Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve in Toledo where she helps remove invasive species through a variety of management techniques. She is very excited to be working with Legacy!

Trey Snow, Marshall Weinberg Intern

Trey Snow

Trey is a recipient of the University of Michigan’s 2018 Marshall Weinberg Internship . He will spend the summer working on a project to assess and value the ecosystem services provided by current and future conservation easements. The project will help to further understand the ecological and economic benefits of conservation using geographic information system (GIS) mapping among other methods. Trey just completed his first year at U-M’s School for Environment and Sustainability. He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bucknell University in 2016 and has worked as a trail crew-member in western Montana and farm apprentice in Massachusetts. Trey grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Greenville, SC, where he developed an appreciation for natural landscapes and wild places. In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing guitar, eating copious amounts of vegetables, and appreciating natural spaces. Trey’s excited to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a land conservancy.
