Grassland Nesting Bird Hike

June 23, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Gary Siegrist, a Legacy volunteer and naturalist, will help you identify the grassland birds of Watkins Lake during their nesting season. Grassland birds observed at Watkins Lake include: Henslow’s Sparrow (endangered in MI), Grasshopper Sparrow and Dickcissel (species of special concern, meaning they are rare or declining in number), Bobolink, and Northern Mockingbird. Grasslands are no longer a common habitat in our area and many birds depend on it, so Legacy is proud to have helped in protecting this land forever. For more information or to register, email [email protected] or call 734-302-5263. Park at the main parking lot off of Arnold Road.
