Volunteer Workday 10/10/2026: Remove Buckthorn at Johnson Preserve
Join Legacy Land Conservancy for a Johnson Preserve workday on October 10th and help remove invasive species like buckthorn and autumn-olive.
Johnson Preserve is Legacy Land Conservancy’s most urban property, allowing access to nature close to the city of Ann Arbor. With sprawling restored prairies and vernal pools that serve as amphibian nurseries during the wet spring months, it’s important to steward this preserve to maintain these special habitats.
REGISTER- Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
- Wear a long sleeve shirt, pants, and closed toe shoes, regardless of the temperature to protect from poison ivy and ticks.
- Please bring a water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen.
Legacy will provide tools and work gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own!
Meet us at Lillie Park South! Johnson Preserve and Lillie Park are connected by a trail. We will be convening at the red gazebo located on the eastern edge of Lillie Park South’s parking lot. The gazebo is adjacent to the start of the trail we will use to walk over to Johnson Preserve.
