Volunteer Opportunities

Legacy Land Conservancy volunteers are essential! Whether you’re looking to spend more time in nature, meet like-minded individuals, or simply give back, there are many ways for you to get involved. No matter your age, experience, fitness, or commitment level, we have something for you.
Begin Your Volunteer Journey
Here are our most popular ways to get involved. Start by completing the sign-up form to tell us which opportunities interest you. If you don’t see the perfect fit, you can choose your own adventure and share how you’d like to help—we’ll follow up with matching opportunities.
Photomonitor
Visit one or two privately owned conservation easement properties as part of our annual monitoring program. Enjoy beautiful vistas while you help document the current state of the property by taking photos and notes.
Ecosteward
Work independently and at your own pace on a long-term project for one of our eight preserves. Our team matches you with a project that aligns with your interests and time.
Volunteer at a Workday
Clear trails, remove invasive species, and build boardwalks to help improve Legacy’s nature preserves. With eight preserves in our area, there’s sure to be a workday near you.
Volunteer Ambassador
Represent and promote Legacy out in the community at events or local gatherings. Help spread the word about our mission and promote upcoming events through brochure distribution or tabling.
Photographer
Take photos at Legacy events and workdays, or just take them for fun, whenever inspiration strikes you, while out in nature. Share them with us for use in our printed publications or online media.
Committee Member
Join a committee that assists Legacy staff and Board of Trustees—a critical part of our work. You can share your expertise in areas like finance, fundraising, legal, stewardship, and land protection.
Office Support
Help with data entry or various clerical tasks, or join us for stuffing and stamping envelopes.
Event Volunteer
Help with general event needs such as set-up, clean-up, greeting or checking in guests.
Upcoming Volunteer Events
Our work changes by the season, and there are ways to get involved all year long!
In spring, pull garlic mustard at a preserve or attend a vernal pool training.
In summer, take care of sheep during Project MOW week or photograph plants and animals during a preserve BioBlitz.
In fall, cut back woody invasive plants like buckthorn and autumn olive.
