Tom and his twin brother are the sixth generation caring for their family’s farm, which was established in 1836 before Michigan was a state. The farm consists of 178 acres of woods, farm fields, and ponds in Washtenaw County. Nature conservation, sustainability, and farming are some of Tom’s passions. He and his family are living on the conservation easement created by Legacy Land Conservancy in 2021. Tom understands that conservation is the key for humanity and generations to come. He believes it’s an honor to clean up, beautify, and preserve the landscape. Tom is currently employed at the University of Michigan in Dearborn working as an HVAC Mechanic.
In his personal life, he and his wife, Amanda, and their two daughters – Anna (14) & Ellie (11) – focus on their faith, family, friendships, and farming. Tom is excited for the opportunity to give back to Legacy after all it has done for him and his family’s farm.
