Meet Our Staff

Susan LaCroix
Susan landed at Legacy Land Conservancy in 2019, serving as Land Protection Director since July 2023. She is also a co-founder of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, Accessibility, and Inclusion Council.
Prior to her role at Legacy, Susan gained land protection experience working with other conservancies in New York, Pennsylvania, Washington State, and the southwest corner of Michigan for nine years. Susan holds dual bachelor’s degrees in environmental policy and political science from the University of Michigan.
Her passion for conservation was inspired by her grandfather, who founded the Higgins Lake Foundation to raise environmental awareness and conserve land, and her upbringing in the rural Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. In her free time, she loves hikes with her dog Zinnia Stardust, gardening and cooking with locally grown produce, knitting, and enjoying time at Higgins Lake.
How can I help you?
I lead Legacy’s land programs, partnerships, and advocacy. If you’re a partner, landowner, neighbor, or conservation ally, I’d be happy to talk about opportunities!
