Creekshead Preserve Stewardship Workday – POSTPONED! @ Creekshead Preserve Workday
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Help us build and install boardwalks in this environmentally sensitive preserve to make this beautiful place more accessible and minimize pedestrian impact. Volunteers need strong backs, but do not need building experience to participate. If you like to use tools and/or carry heavy things, this is the workday for you!

Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a water bottle. Register with Dana at dana@legacylandconservancy.org or 734.302.5263

We have cancelled this workday due to a storm headed our way. Please join us next weekend to work on this project!

Creekshead Preserve Stewardship Workday – will be postponed in case of rain! @ Creekshead Preserve

Help us put the finishing touches on the boardwalks started the previous week. Many hands make light work! If we finish early there will be time to scout out and control the few invasive shrubs in this otherwise invasive-free preserve! Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a water bottle.

Whole Foods Market – Community Support Day

What: Whole Foods Market is urging shoppers to earmark Thursday, January 17 as their day to shop to help support a “Community Support Day” (CSD) at the Cranbrook location in Ann Arbor.  On this day, the store will donate five percent of that day’s sales to Legacy Land Conservancy, a not-for-profit that serves southeastern Michigan. The CSD program is part of Whole Foods Market’s commitment to good community citizenship. Each year, a minimum of five percent of the Company’s total profits are donated to a wide variety of community and nonprofit organizations.

Land Partner Gathering – Trespass Considerations @ NEW Center
9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Legacy landowners and others interested in stewarding their land are invited to this potluck breakfast! Legacy is making pancakes, bring your favorite topping and/or side dish. Volunteer Photo-Monitoring Kick-off and Training Part I @ NEW Center
12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

What better way to see beautiful places than to volunteer to photograph them? The Photo-Monitoring Squad volunteers are a group of dedicated and hardy individuals interested in bush-whacking, GPS use and digital imagery to assist Legacy in upholding the terms of their conservation easements. Part I will be an indoor orientation session. Part II is an outdoor field training. Join the squad by attending both of these trainings (on April 6th and April 13th). Volunteer Photo-Monitoring Field Training (Part II)
12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Volunteers will be going through a ‘practice run’ monitoring  as a group at an easement property. Learn what things to look for in the field and the how to’s of monitoring forms and photo management. Please bring your camera and GPS unit (if you have one). Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear if the ground is wet. NOTE: This training is part 2 of the Photo-Monitoring Training. Beckwith Preserve Stewardship Workday

Stewardship clip artWhat: Earth Day at Beckwith Preserve! Garlic mustard and dame’s rocket are invasive species that can take over a woodland. Help us remove them from this preserve to bring back the native spring ephemerals. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a water bottle. Creekshead Preserve Stewardship Workday

Stewardship clip artWhat: We are lucky to have this beautiful, invasive-free  woodland. Join us at this workday to help plant native shrubs along the border to help out -compete invading buckthorn and help with privacy concerns. DATE CHANGE! – Sharon Hills Preserve Stewardship Workday
2:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Stewardship clip artWhat: Falconry is the only method of hunting allowed in our preserves and only at the Sharon Hills preserve. Enjoy a short presentation from local Falconer, Cynthia Avery and her bird, Forest, to kick-off our workday. We’ll learn about this ancient practice then head out to improve wildlife habitat in the preserve by removing invasive garlic mustard and dame’s rocket.
